I believe copyright is in need of a couple of changes but not many. One thing which is really good about copyright is that works are automatically covers upon tangible creation. Although, this helps those who create the work I believe that there should be a way that a person works can be legally binded to the creator without it being registered. There should be more ways that it can be instituted into public record. The reason for this being that it may take to long for a person to get it registered. infringement can happen upon minutes of conception of the work causing the author to lose the right of the work in court because it was not published.
I also believe there should be more rights that protect those who use the poor mans copyright. The purpose of copyrighting in this fashion is to have the name, address and date of creation by the post office to tell when and by whom the work was created. This should be enough information to at least use as evidence in court. I do not think it is fair that inly published works are instituted as prima facie.
It also would be helpful if copyrights, especially registered was covered in more countries around the world. Because the world is becoming smaller through the internet, It is easier to steal peoples works from other countries. By instituting copyright laws to more countries many more peoples works would be protected and free from infringement and sampling from other countries. I as a student believe in this because my works in school can be used in different countries without my permission.
